Our Sustainability Promise
Nîm celebrates its commitment to our planet by bringing consumption and production closer to human well-being. We strive to set our designs, creations, and strategy in a way that does not cross planetary boundaries by endorsing a humanist economic thinking model that promotes environmental and social sustainability.
As a young Lebanese brand, we are fully aware that disrupting one of the oldest industries is not an easy task, but surely a feasible one. We do understand that the shift towards a fully sustainable model does not happen overnight. Therefore, we have decided to implement our sustainability practices in small and gradual steps. This approach allows us to effectively utilize our resources and to continually improve and expand our sustainable practices. This process might seem small towards our big goal but we pledge to keep growing, developing, and nurturing our sustainable side each year.
We’re not there yet but committed to making better choices every day. At Nîm, we have started to implement our first four sustainability practices:
Manufacturing and Production
At Nîm, we create a limited number of items to prevent overstocking. We produce our creations responsibly and in small batches to avoid overproduction. We are proud to work with Lebanese-based, family-run manufacturers who take pride in their craftsmanship and who adhere to ethical pay and safe working conditions.
Fabric and Material Sourcing
We want our creations to age gracefully and have a longer lifespan in your wardrobes, which is why we have invested in the best quality fabrics to produce long-lasting pieces while reducing the amount of textile waste that ends up in landfills. At Nîm, we strive to source natural and biodegradable fabrics whenever possible and avoid harmful materials, such as petroleum-based fibers, for the benefit of both the environment and our health. As a young Lebanese brand, we acknowledge that sourcing fully sustainable or eco-certified materials can be a challenge in a market that is still gradually developing in the country yet we believe that this is a work in progress, and we are committed to making better choices every day.
Upcycling
We adopt a zero-waste strategy across all our design stages. We implement various processes to minimize the risk of sitting on deadstock. And although we produce ethically, and as close to demand, we sometimes still sit on pre-consumer textile waste material. At Nîm, we are committed to repurposing and upcycling the unsold pieces or remaining fabrics in a capsule collection to give them a second chance at life and limit textiles dumped in landfills.
Packaging and labels
At Nîm, we try to go green whenever possible. We use as little packaging as possible that is also made of biodegradable materials.
